Wesley Gonzalez – 9:15pm
We are absolutely thrilled to present a small programme of socially distanced concerts. We’re working closely with each venue to implement Covid-secure measures and ensure the safety of all, meaning that we can (finally) get back to it and support some of the local artists, venues and technicians that we love.
Tickets can be bought in groups for the same household / support bubble, and there are also a limited number of single tickets available.
Wesley Gonzalez plays a special socially-distanced show in Dalston’s 100-year-old Art Deco cinema.
Gonzalez first made a name for himself as the leader of Let’s Wrestle, whose tuneful and eccentric punk earned critical accolades and a devoted audience with three albums, including 2011’s Steve Albini produced Nursing Home.
Wesley wasted little time forging a solo career for himself in the wake of his former band’s demise. He assembled a live band for his solo work and expanded from the guitar-driven music of his former band. He fielded an interesting concoction of classic 70’s pop, soul and indie rock, which he described as being influenced by Donny Hathaway and Sly & the Family Stone.
Excellent Musician, Wesley’s debut solo record, was released in 2017, and followed by Appalling Human in June 2020 through Moshi Moshi Records. In March 2021 he announced the release of a brand new single ‘Change Your Circumstance’ which was premiered by Lauren Laverne at BBC 6 Music. 2021 will see the further release of a new music including his third solo album as well as the return of live dates.
